Our parents are an integral part of our #OneChurchill Community. The Churchill School Parents Association strives to bring together parents, students, faculty and administrators, in order to support the social and academic growth of our children. Since Churchill families reside all over the city and beyond, opportunities that bring us together are even more essential.
My name is Allison Jupiter and I am extremely honored to serve as the President of the Churchill Parents Association for the 2019-2020 academic year. I am the mother to identical twin girls in Cluster A, Emma and Lyla Korson. I am sure you can relate when I say Churchill has been life changing for our family. We have never seen our girls grow so much academically and exhibit as much confidence as they have this past year. We are so thankful to be part of this wonderful community, which is why I want to become even more involved in Churchill through the Parents Association. I am hoping your experience at this school will inspire you to get involved as well!
As we move through the academic year together, we want you to know we listened to the parents of this wonderful school and are making changes based upon that. One suggestion is to have Elementary, Middle, and High School representatives to reflect the diverse developmental needs of our students. Each representative will attend PA leadership meetings and keep in close contact with Class Parents to ensure clearer communications within each division. The representatives will also be responsible for sharing thoughts from the parents in their respective divisions to improve communication. Division representatives will be yet another resource for you to use to convey ideas and learn about everything happening here at Churchill.
We also heard you when you asked for neighborhood events to reflect the variety of locations from whichour families come. We will be supporting parents by planning events in various boroughs throughout the year. In addition, we will continue the Churchill traditional (and enormously fun) community events, including ice skating at Wollman Park (save the date for November 4th!), Quiz Night, and Comedy Night.
The biggest change is to the structure of our PA meetings. As you know, we meet 9 times a year beginning in September. Please stay tuned for exact dates and times. This year, however, each meeting will focus on a topic with a subject matter expert. The first meeting will be a Welcome Breakfast for all parents to attend. Then, two of the meetings will focus on topics most relevant to Elementary School parents, two will focus on Middle School parents, and two will focus on High School parents and students. There will also be two meetings focusing on broader topics for the entire Churchill community. All parents are welcome and encouraged at every meeting. In addition, each of the meetings will be livestreamed. This is to help with making the meetings more accessible wherever you are, so you can still be a part of the PA and the Churchill community even if you cannot attend in person.
I am excited to hear about your experiences at Churchill and I personally want to get to know each one of you and your families. Either say hello to me at drop off or pick up, or email me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I look forward to a fantastic year!
