How to Apply

Thank you for your interest in The Churchill School and Center. We are happy your family is considering Churchill for your child.  The Admissions Office is here to help determine if Churchill is the right educational environment where your child will find comfort and success. The admissions process begins with a completed application. Please follow the steps below:

  • Submit an Application

    • Create a username and password for our online Admissions Portal.
    • Complete the online application and submit the $75.00 non-refundable application fee. The fee is waived for students who are approved for Non-Public School placement.
    • Upload the supporting documents:
      1. Neuropsychological or Psychoeducational Evaluation, completed within 2 years (required)
      2. Release form, downloaded from the website (required)
      3. IEP (if applicable)
      4. Supporting evaluations (Speech, OT, PT, progress reports, etc.) (if applicable)
    • Request that your child’s teacher fill out a questionnaire by inputting an email address through the portal. Additional providers may submit forms as well, but the teacher is required.
  • Application Review

    • Once the supporting documents have been received by the Admissions Office, the application is reviewed and an initial determination is made.
    • If it is determined your child might be appropriate for our program, we will move forward with scheduling visits to the school.
    • We interview only when we anticipate a space.  For students that are applying for a grade with no anticipated spaces, any student who appears appropriate after our initial review will be added to a waitlist.  ONLY when space becomes available will we schedule interviews.
    After review, we may determine Churchill is not the appropriate educational setting for your child.  In that case, we will work with you as best we can to assist in finding the right educational environment.
  • Interview

    Kindergarten
    • 30 minute playgroup at The Churchill School
    • On-site visit at your child’s current school
    Grades 1-8
          • First Visit: Assessments
            • Students will receive social/emotional, academic, and speech & language screenings.
          • Second Visit: Class Visit
            • If the student’s assessment visit indicates Churchill would be an appropriate setting, they will be invited to visit for a ½  day (grades 3 and lower) or full-day visit (grades 4 and higher).
    Grade 9
          • The student will be invited to Churchill for a full-day visit which includes a conversation with the High School mental health team, a speech & language screening, and class visits.
     
    Please Note: we typically do not have placement for students past Grade 9.  Applications for students in other High School grades are considered very carefully and only when space is available.
  • Final Decision & Enrollment

    • Commitment Letters will be sent in December to families who have completed the interview process and we intend to accept.  This letter informs parents The Churchill School commits to holding a seat for their child, but no commitment is required on your part.
    • In February, Enrollment Contracts are sent out.  Families are given 10 business days to return the contract with a non-refundable deposit.
    • All decisions will be posted through your Online Admissions Portal.

  • Reactivation of Application

    Parents who do not receive a placement may reactivate their application for the following school year, without paying a new application fee.  To reactivate, please contact the Admissions Office.  Applications will not be considered active after August unless reactivated.  Please keep evaluations and supporting documents updated so that we can continue to consider your child.

We are currently at full enrollment for the 2018-2019 school year.  

Applications are being accepted for the 2019-2020 school year. We will be reviewing applications beginning in late September for the following grades: K, Grade 2, Grade 4, Grade 9.  

While we accept applications year-round, we will not be reviewing applications for any grades not listed above. If space becomes available in other grades, we will review all applications submitted, giving preference to those submitted before the deadline.
